Renewa delivers a 20 MW district heating plant for VS Lämpö Oy
Renewa Oy and VS Lämpö Oy have agreed on a district heating plant delivery to Uusikaupunki in Finland.
The new heating plant will produce heat to the district heating network of the city of Uusikaupunki and to the Valmet Automotive factory. Renewa will deliver the 20 MW biomass fired heating plant as a turn-key delivery. The project will start immediately and the plant will be handed over to VS Lämpö during the fall 2015.
”The target of VS Lämpö Oy is to move from fossil fuels to the use biofuel in the heat production. This new biomass fired heating plant supports our target well. It also contributes to the growing needs of district heat we have in the Uusikaupunki area. The plant we have now ordered from Renewa proved to have the best technical solution and lowest lifecycle cost,” says Mika Salo, development director of Vakka-Suomen Voima Oy.
Bubbling fluidized bed
Renewa will build the heating plant from the foundations upwards. The delivery includes Renewa’s bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler with auxiliaries, fuel receiving and feeding to boiler, flue gas cleaning systems, stack, boiler house, and the plant’s electrification, instrumentation and automation. The plant will be manufactured at Renewa’s workshops in Oulu and Lapua. Also the design, installation and commissioning work will be executed mainly by Renewa and by its domestic suppliers in Finland.
”We appreciate the trust VS Lämpö has shown towards Renewa’s know-how and technology. The technical requirements, size and delivery time set for this plant have a good fit with our solution portfolio. The plant ordered by VS Lämpö utilizes our ReneFluid BFB technology that responds well to the fast load changes our customer will have in their energy consumption,” tells Veijo Komulainen, managing director of Renewa Oy.
