Further Nuclear plants to close in Sweden
German headquartered utility company E.on, the main owner of the two Okarshamn nuclear plants want to close reactor 2 earlier than planned. According to a company statement today it is not possible to economically run the unit after 2020.
Since before Oskarshamn reactor 1, the oldest reactor in Sweden is planned to close. E.on say that they as majority owner will act so the operating company OKG prepares Oskarshamn for shutdown.
The two nuclear plants in Ringhals, with minority ownership of E.on and with Vattenfall as the maojority owner was recently announced by Vattenfall to close down before 2020. E.on has for Ringhals asked for further analysis before final decision.
