In 2014 the biofuel boiler capacity in Ukraine increased by 60% 26.12.2013

By the end of 2013 the total installed capacity of thermal power generation that use biomass as energy in Ukraine increased by 60pc compared with 2012 reaching a total of  137 MW, reports the  Renewable Energy Centre.

In 2013 in Ukraine more than 20  biomass boilers with a total capacity of 36 MW, and about 40 small smaller with a total capacity of 15 MW. In addition, during this period in Ukraine was implemented a  project for 6 MW biopower plant. Ukraina has so far  six smaller units producing 11 MW electricity.

Production of solid biofuels , fuel briquettes and pellets reached 1 .654 million tons, an increase with 9pc compared to 2012. A larger part of the biomass production will be used in Ukraina. The trend is that Ukrainian share will increase further as more power plants come on stream.

Projects development by vertically integrated companies is one of the key themes at the event organized by the IBCentre with the support of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, as well as the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.

UBF-2014 is going to be the business platform for manufacturers, traders, consumers of fuel pellets and briquettes, and producers and consumers of electricity and heat from biomass.

Also important components of the Forum will be the production and use of biogas, as well as investments in the use of biomass as an energy source. 50 top industry experts from 12 will countries will speak at the forum
