UPM in negotiations to sell closed Myllykoski mill
UPM is currently negotiating with the Finnish biofuel developer Suomen Bioetanoli, upon the selling of the closed Myllykoski mill in Kouvola in southern Finland. The Finnish Ministry of Employment and Economy has granted to Suomen Bioetanoli some Euro 30 million ($35 million) for the construction of a bioethanol production facility at UPM’s mill.
UPM-shuttered Myllykoski mill manager, Timo Suutarla, says that the bio-ethanol plant in plan is a good thing in UPM’s point of view. New activities to the factory have been sought since the paper mill production ended in 2011.
The two parties are currently in a negotiation phase. The deal would include the entire Myllykoski mill site, including the remaining equipment.
